In most cases there is a process of internal migration to the mainland where you travel.
Who is touring the South-East Asia take a plane and go to Australia or New Zealand to work because you earn more. In a few months of intense hard work and savings have enough money to return again to enjoy Thailand or Indonesia.

The Long Journey
There is a big difference between a trip of a couple of weeks and a trip of several months.
Who for the first time faces a long journey that will usually experience short before, and usually falls into the error of believing that a journey of six months is like a journey than a month to six times longer. But it is not.

Spend less and better travel
We tend to think that the more money you have, the better the chance to travel in a pleasant and interesting things to see. This is partly true but in reality the economic availability acts as an insulator against the local environment and quality of travel in general.
It seems absurd, I know, but let's do some reasoning:
