Travel with laptop

Let's face it now:
- If you need to think about it, ponder, reflect, meditate and if the voice inside tells you that you have to do without hesitation, take it with you.
- If you do not need, or you will probably either be used on rainy days you might ponder, reflect, meditate and if the voice inside tells you that you have to do without hesitation, however, leave it at home.
The laptop has 3 main problems:
- Weighing from 1.5 kg to a minimum of 3 / 4 kg. Consider not only the laptop, but the charger and accessories such as mice, cd etc. ... On a trip a few months these pounds are multiplied by many times as you bring them back, and get tons, tons, and then nightmares.
- Is delicate. if it falls, it breaks if you hit the breaks, it breaks if it gets wet, if there's too much dust breaks. And you must always be afraid to be broken.
- Like a lot to those who did not have it. You have to keep with you. Virtually may make it difficult to stay in certain hostels or lodgings. A real "pain in the ass."
Only one thing: if you can, avoid.
I used to work but do not know how many times I wanted to be free. It 'a constant thought.
If you decide to take it, here are some tips.

To experience the situation in the hostels is not so difficult
There are many people who travel with laptops, just to have a locker and a lock and nearly all hostels have it and I've never heard anyone that was stolen. Easier to steal money, but is still an object striking portail takeout.

Ditto for the connection: I choose hostels that have wi fi and there are different and it is a great way to live life from the hostel

  2. admin says:

So much the better. I have to admit that they have neglected the hostels and then your experience is valuable. So, correct: Hostels and laptops, combination possible.
    Thank you.

  3. Benny says:

May I suggest the use of the Toughbook family of super-resistant portable. For travel in extreme areas. (Sorry for the brand, but it seems to be the only ones like that, I certainly do not advertise it!)
    Someone can confirm, I think.
    Hello!

  4. admin says:

    Hello Benny,
They are heavy? If you have a problem is, breast may also be interesting.
I also seem to be expensive, right?
In any case a laptop lighter and smaller in normal travel is great.

  5. Benny says:

Unfortunately, my advice is by ear, I've never seen and tested, I have a few days associated with a group of volunteers who travel (even in the desert) and according to them is a good way. Clearly, those traveling backpacker places heavy emphasis on lightness of the half, their motorized travel.
From an economic standpoint, yes, they are very expensive, but invaluable safety of traveling calm even when there are "bouncing", right?

  6. admin says:

sure, so it depends on the type of trip.
For a backpacker would recommend a laptop normal, small and light.

  7. Pedro says:

Laptop & hostels: I confirm what you have already written, in the hostel is quite possible now, given also the amount of travelers who use them. In short, it is no longer a novelty as it was only a few years ago.
In practice, you run the same risk (or even less) of bring a digital camera. The risk is always present, but very bearable.
But I also understand that anyone who uses the laptop to work, and not just to read mail, manage Web sites, photos, etc., feel the weight of the danger in very different ways.

Another clarification: Gmail for almost a year without an invitation is open to everyone (until a few months ago was refused only North America, but now I no longer believe). And Gmail is perfect for traveling: there is never need to delete mail (now has 5 gig of space, but growing), so the search can be found in the archive of all mail received! :-)
While waiting to come out then the highly anticipated "GDrive" google (virtual hard drive), there are already small program free on the net that allow you to use gmail account as a virtual hard drive. I met a boy in Brazil, Swiss and every day sent to gmail photos made, making it a safety backup of your photos.
In short, if Gmail did not exist, have to be invented! :-)

    Hello hello!
    Pedro

I confirm what was said in the comments ... add hostels on a simple consideration (worked for me so far) to ask people. Example: I am going to take a shower. The first smile I see in the dormitory, which perhaps is lying in bed reading, indicating the backpack and ask: "look at me a moment while I shower?". Or, if the reception is not controlled, just let them out in a courteous manner. And when I 'success (however' in Europe, to tell the truth ') in Madrid and London, the receptionists were very kind, and I have literally' hidden 'the laptop in more places' sure, like locked drawer of the desk .
